Launch Announced for New Campus Voice MailThu, 25 Sep 2008 15:40:55 -0700PSU has scheduled the launch of the new voice mail system, CallXpress. This new system will replace the existing Intuity Audix system which has been officially manufacturer discontinued.
There are three important dates to remember for this conversion to the new system. The first date, Oct. 8th, is the date that users will have access to the new voice mail system for the purposes of setting up their new voice mail boxes (greeting, password, etc.). This is just a preparatory step for users as the new system will not yet be accepting actual voice mail messages. The 2nd date is Oct. 15th, which is the last day that we'll be using the old Intuity Audix voice mail as the cutover to the new CallXpress system will occur the evening of the 15th. The 3rd important date is Oct. 16th which is the first full day for the new system.
With the new CallXpress voice mail system, you will have three ways to access your voicemail:
- The new phone access number for CallXpress will be 503-725-7000.
- Web access will be available at
https://voicemail.pdx.edu
- Email client access can be configured using IMAP with SSL.
Please be aware that existing Intuity Audix voice mail greetings, messages and personal distribution lists will not be transferred to the new CallXpress system. For more information and complete instructions please visit the Telecommunications website http://www.telecom.pdx.edu
or call the Telecom support
team at 5-CALL (2255).
New Voicemail System - Here SoonTue, 26 Aug 2008 11:02:25 -0700PSU will be launching a new voicemail system to replace our aging Intuity Audix system. Our new system, powered by AVST CallXpress software, includes Unified Messaging, Fax Server, and Text-to-Speech applications. With this new system, customers will be able to access their voice mail online; treating voice mail much the same as email at their desktop or via the Web. With our current voice mail system, users can receive faxes. The new CallXpress system will include some licenses to both send and receive faxes.
Wireless Network ChangesMon, 25 Aug 2008 09:31:56 -0700Changes were made to wireless networking to give users more wireless options. There will be "open" (unencrypted and authenticated by Odin login) networks for those who prefer to connect easily with no configuration. There will be more secure "closed" (encrypted and authenticated by Odin login) networks that will require additional software configuration. Instructions for using the closed networks are available on
http://www.uss.pdx.edu/
New available networks for faculty and staff:
PSU Faculty and
Staff - an unencrypted network only for faculty and staff with no additional configuration required. Odin login is required via the familiar captive portal.
PSU Secure
Facstaff - an encrypted network for Faculty and Staff that requires additional software configuration and Odin login.
New available networks for students:
PSU General
Access - An unencrypted network for students and guests that requires Odin login via the captive portal.
PSU
Secure - An encrypted network for students and guests that requires additional configuration software and Odin login.
For PDAs and mobile devices:
PSU
PDA - for PDAs and other mobile devices (not laptops). Research Systems Storage UpgradeFri, 18 Jul 2008 10:07:06 -0700OIT will be adding an additional storage device that will greatly increase the inventory of available storage for researcher shares at a much more cost effective price.
In order to bring this new device online, OIT will require a downtime of ALL research systems on July 21st from 12 to 12:30 pm. Any processes running will have to be restarted.
This is being done in the middle of the day so that we have staff on hand to respond to any issues that may arise.
You will probably have to remap your existing network drives and/or redo desktop shortcuts that point to research accounts. If your shortcut or mapped drive no longer works after the upgrade, delete it and create a new one. Information on how to this is included in this FAQ:

Meeting Maker Upgrade Scheduled for 6/20/08Mon, 16 Jun 2008 13:58:32 -0700
OIT will be upgrading the Meeting Maker client and server beginning Friday, June 20 at 6pm. The server will be back online by 8am on Monday, June 23. This migration will require a server update as well as a client update on all computers using the Meeting Maker software.
There are several reasons why this upgrade is desirable and necessary:
-
New MM server automatically adjusts meeting schedules within the new daylight savings time window.
-
Users are no longer required to re-accept meetings when minor changes such as a guest list or an agenda change are made.
-
Syncing to Personal Data Assistants (PDAs) will be more reliable
Windows users on campus will receive the MM software update automatically by Monday, June 23. Please leave your computer powered up over the weekend and you will receive the update on Sunday June 22.
Off campus and Mac users will not receive the update automatically - please download the software from webmail.
New Voice Mail System on the WayFri, 13 Jun 2008 15:13:54 -0700PSU will be launching a new voice messaging system to replace our aging Intuity Audix system. PSU leveraged aggregated purchasing power by doing a joint procurement with the University of Oregon. Within the next two to three weeks Telecommunications will finalize an implementation timeline. The target for a test date of the system is July 16, 2008. This date is purely for testing purposes. The system will be launched campus-wide in late August / early September 2008.
